Yormick Law is pleased to introduce our newest Associate, Pavit Arora. Pavit resides in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where the firm is launching an office.

Pavit focuses her practice on international trade with an emphasis on export controls, economic sanctions, and US imports. She has worked with clients in a wide variety of industries, including aerospace and defense, automotive, oil/gas, manufacturing, electronics, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, textiles and apparel, and telecommunications. Pavit joins Yormick Law from KPMG, where she served as an International Trade Senior Associate, co-authoring Evolving Compliance Programs for Trading with Russia, published in Export Compliance Manager (2022).

Pavit’s trade counselling experience includes leading comprehensive export control risk assessments and developing trade compliance policies and manuals focused on the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and sanctions regulations administered and enforced by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). She has also conducted M&A trade due diligence, country of origin determinations, anti-forced labor mapping, as well as HTSUS and Schedule B/HTS Code classification analyses. Pavit’s trade advocacy includes preparing disclosures, petitions, and responses to various government agency actions, including those taken by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the FDA, the US International Trade Commission (USITC), and the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). She has spoken fluency in Hindi and Punjabi and is admitted to practice in Florida and Massachusetts.

Originally from Massachusetts, Pavit earned her Juris Doctor, with a concentration in business and commercial law, from Northeastern University, where she served as an Associate Editor of the Northeastern University Law Review, a research and teaching assistant for an International Trade Law course, and an Executive Board Member of the South Asian Law Students Association. During law school, Pavit also interned at the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, Human Trafficking Division. She obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, with a focus on supply chain and entrepreneurship (Go Huskies!).   

In her free time, Pavit enjoys running, yoga, golfing, and spending time with her family.
