About Us
Our Practice Focus
The Firm particularly focuses on advising and representing clients on compliance with and enforcement of laws and regulations relating to US national and homeland security and foreign policy interests, such as the Export Control Reform Act (ECRA), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), the Customs Modernization Act (Mod Act), the Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act (TFTEA), the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), numerous sanctions regimes such as the Russia Harmful Activities Sanctions Regulations (RuHSR), and US Government contracting and procurement laws and regulations. As a result, our professionals are in regular contact with US Government agencies, such as US Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), among others.
Recognizing the complexities of global trade regulation and reach of our clients, the Firm also provides guidance regarding legislation and regulations of Canada, the European Union (EU), Mexico, and the United Kingdom (UK).
Additionally, the Firm regularly prepares, negotiates, and advises on a wide range of international commercial agreements, and with its significant dispute resolution experience, represents clients in international commercial and trade disputes, including coordinating and managing litigation with foreign colleagues in jurisdictions such as Israel, Mexico, and the UK.

Our History
1995-2019
In 1995, our Founder, Jon Yormick, launched a solo practice and then opened a predecessor firm, Yormick & Associates, in 1995. Initially, the firm focused on litigation and regularly represented companies in international commercial disputes with litigation, arbitration, and mediation proceedings throughout the United States, handling cases in federal courts such as Boston, Buffalo, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Miami, and San Antonio.
In the early 2000s, the Firm’s practice focus evolved to concentrate on advising and representing companies regarding international trade regulation and enforcement of those laws and regulations by US agencies such as US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), (formerly the US Customs Service), US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) (now the US Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI)), the US Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security, Office of Export Enforcement (OEE) (formerly the Bureau of Export administration (BXA)), among other agencies.
A Hiatus
From early 2019 through 2022, Mr. Yormick brought his specialty practice to other firms, co-leading the International Business Law practice of a mid-size New York State-focused law firm, and then joining a regional Cleveland-based law firm focused on white collar defense and sensitive matters. However, in both instances it became evident that neither opportunity would lead to the anticipated synergy that could propel the practice forward in a significant way.
The Relaunch
At the start of 2023, Mr. Yormick relaunched his independent, international business and trade practice in Cleveland as Yormick Law LLC. In early 2024, the Firm opened an office in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and the Firm’s growth continues.
