Yormick Named Chairman of World Trade Celebration

March 16, 2009 – The World Trade Center Buffalo Niagara (WTCBN) has named Jon Yormick as Chairman of the 14th Annual World Trade Celebration Presented by Speed Global Services on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center in Buffalo, New York.

World Trade Celebration is the WTCBN’s signature networking event for companies involved in international business and trade.  The event celebrates the positive impact that global trade has on the economies of Western New York and Southern Ontario.  John Stropki, Chairman, President and CEO of Lincoln Electric Company in Cleveland, will be the event’s keynote speaker.

The event serves as the largest fundraiser for the WTCBN, a non-profit organization that assists companies businesses grow and prosper globally.  Over 550 people from 167 different companies attended last year’s event.  This year’s event will feature educational seminars on trade and a luncheon that will feature a speaker as well, which is expected to increase attendance this year.

“I am honored and humbled by my selection as Chairman of World Trade Celebration,” said Yormick, a Buffalo native.  “The significant bilateral trade and investment in the Buffalo Niagara region that extends through the Golden Horseshoe in Southern Ontario was a key reason for opening our firm’s Buffalo office 2 years ago.  Despite the trying times, companies from both countries have good reason to gather and celebrate their binational business success.”  “I plan to extend invitations to many foreign companies this year,” Yormick added.  “We need to showcase the how much global business is conducted in our binational region, not simply business between neighbors.”  Yormick, whose firm was founded in Cleveland, is particularly pleased that he is this year’s Chairman since the keynote speaker is the leader of one of Cleveland’s best-known companies.  “I hope that many Cleveland companies will join me at the celebration which features one of the area’s many global companies.”
